NP Medical Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a $150,060 Workforce Training Fund grant.

Luis J Maseda, General Manager of NP Medical remarked ‘NP Medical’s market leading competitiveness as a supplier of infusion therapy and vascular access medical devices is based on the exceptional group of people that we are privileged to call our team. Our products are made in the USA which demands a high level of workforce efficiency and manufacturing output quality. It is through continuous training and investment in our people that we maintain our competitive edge.’ NP Medical will train 26 staff members as Six Sigma Green belts, as well as conduct extensive advanced training in electrical and mechanical skills necessary to develop its life saving products and operate its highly automated manufacturing operations.

The Six Sigma methodology being taught is based on a set of tools and strategies that are used to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects and by minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. More than 150 staff will benefit from training over the course of the two year life of the grant.

NP Medical is matching the investment with a total of almost 7,000 hours of employee hours. The NP Medical staff worked closely with Mount Wachusett Community College’s (MWCC) workforce training department to craft the successful grant application and will continue to work with MWCC for the training deliverables.

‘The Workforce Training Fund Program grant is enabling NP Medical’s engagement of MWCC to deliver industry leading technical training to a broader group of NP stakeholders than would have otherwise been possible. We are grateful to The Commonwealth Corporation for this generous and timely support of medical device manufacturing in Massachusetts’ said Mr. Maseda.

NP Medical is a Massachusetts based medical device manufacturer dedicated to innovating and providing infusion therapy devices that improve patient outcomes and ensure caregiver safety while enabling affordable quality care. NP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nypro Inc., a privately held, employee-owned, diversified contract injection molding and assembly company based in Clinton, Massachusetts.

This project is funded by a Workforce Training Fund grant through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The grant program is administered by the Commonwealth Corporation.
